The Pediatric Emergency Medicine Service at Sutton Children's Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana is seeking full time and part time associates to join its pediatric emergency medicine group, Children's Acute Care.
SCMC is a beautiful, newly developed, 114-bed regional children's hospital
located within CHRISTUS Schumpert Hospital serving Shreveport, Bossier City, northwestern Louisiana, and northeastern Texas. The Center includes a 40-bed level III NICU, a 50-bed Pediatric Unit, and a 16-bed Pediatric Intensive
Care Unit. Pediatric medical staff support is provided by a full complement
of pediatric subspecialties that includes pediatric surgery, pediatric gastroenterology, and pediatric orthopedics.
The Pediatric Emergency Department (PED) is one of the busiest in the
region. It sees approximately 19,000 visits per year, and its volume continues to expand annually. The 9-bed PED boasts state-of-the-art equipment, with a 16-slice CT scanner located in the
department.
This opportunity places strong emphasis on clinical service and program
development. Responsibilities include clinical coverage of the PED and participation in its growth and performance improvement activities. The
opportunity offers flexible scheduling, a compensation package which includes a competitive salary with bonus opportunities, a benefits menu,
malpractice insurance, and relocation assistance. Candidates must be board
certified in pediatrics and either BC/BP in pediatric emergency medicine; or
possess extensive recent experience in pediatric emergency medicine.
Shreveport is located in the northwest region of Louisiana and is closely
bordered to the west by Texas and to the north by Arkansas. Shreveport
offers a wide variety of activities such as professional sporting events,
museums, art galleries, and performing arts. The area is also highly regarded by the outdoor enthusiast for its vast array of outdoor activities which includes boating, fishing, hunting, golf, and enjoying one of the many parks in the area.
